Under 11
At Ikorodu City Academy, we offer kids the opportunity to discover themselves at an early stage of human development. We know the importance of exposing the U-11s to football methodology at this age. The importance of a holistic development plan cannot be over-emphasized. As an Academy, we have put in place tailor made practices and football training to help identify the inherent talent in the young players.
The Under-11s train thrice a week during school sessions and four times per week during the holidays. Our curriculum requires them to participate in private & group sessions to develop across the technical, tactical, psychological, social and physical corners. Community development volunteering and participation is compulsory for all players at least once a week throughout the season. We organize special competition and fixtures ranging from 5v5 to 7v7, 11v11 where appropriate, for this group to participate and compete among their peers.
Each player in this category will be assessed individually and in a group both on and off the pitches by the Coaches. All Academy players and parents also get access to our online platform for extracurricular teaching and learning in areas such as financial literacy, leadership, mentor-mentee relationship, life-skill development among others.
Academy players will get support with their physical development from sports science and medical team. Each individual player is screened at designated points in the season. These results allow sports science and medical staff to develop individualized programmes, utilizing gym, core and fundamental movement preparation sessions to maximize long term physical development. Each individual player has access to bespoke support from our medical staff, such as movement development, injury management and return to play protocols.
Parents and players have access to support from our team of sports psychologists and designated player care staff. This will include regular check ins, parent workshops, player workshops and on–pitch support.
At ICA, we value our players’ education very highly and support them with this throughout their journey at the Academy. Each age group has a designated school liaison officer, who will ensure constant communication between the Academy and player’s school to monitor, support and maximize full academic potential. This is overseen by the Academy head of education and head of coaching.
